A tribute to black – potent portraits honoring the people of Cameroon.

HOMMAGE À NOIR is a complimentary piece to the award-winning visual poem of the same title. The graceful images reveal high-contrast black and white portraits of the people of Cameroon. The pictures were taken in a dark tent, inspired by Irving Penn’s early ethnographic photographs, allowing natural light beams to penetrate only through the open top while lifting the figures out of their everyday environment. The subjects stand alone and are thus highlighted in their essence.
